HK stocks open higher amid Alibaba-Apple partnership

Hong Kong stocks opened higher today, following news that Alibaba (9988) is partnering with Apple to develop AI features for iPhone users in China.

The Hang Seng Index opened 231 points higher at 21,526.

The Tech Index rose 1.4 percent to 5,214 points at the opening bell.

Alibaba opened more than 4 percent higher.

Tencent (0700) rose 0.37 percent, Meituan (3690) gained 0.49 percent, JD.com (9618) – which rolled out a food delivery service – rose 1.26 percent, and Xiaomi (1810) increased by 3.17 percent.
